8.-London


London


London is a city in the south of England. In Roman times its name was 'Londinium'. Nowadays London has a population of 7.5 million but in Roman times there are about 45,000 inhabitants.

There are places in London with the names of important peopole and battles in history: Trafalagar square commemorates Battle of Trafalagar, Victoria Street commemorates Queen Victoria.

The peopole of London are called Londoners or 'Cockneys'. Londoners include Charlie Chaplin and Arthur Conan Doyle. Carlie Chaplin was an important actor in the begining of the 20 th century. Arthur Conan Doyle was the writer of Sherlok Holmes stories.
